Kurdish/middle eastern cuisine at its finest right here in Bucharest. By the fragrances that welcome you right at the door (spices and meat over charcoal), you realize it’s time for a feast. You’re not gonna be able to only take one thing off their menu, there are quite a few items that will excite the taste buds of each and every one. From traditional Kebabs of all sorts, soups, and grilled meats to finger-licking desserts you’re gonna want a taste of everything.
Fear not! Their head waiter Catalin is the perfect guide for this culinary experience. He knows the menu by heart and always has some menu tweaks/hacks to offer and can read from a mile away what you’d like. Made the experience better tenfold. We love it when the waiters or owners actually interact and show us they love (and why) what they craft there.
My personal recommendations are the Ali nazik (charcoaled pieces of beef with an eggplant puree with yogurt, garlic, and Turkish butter) and Karisik pide (boat-shaped dough, copious amount of cheese, spiced beef mince, traditional Turkish sausage). They always serve you some sides and a mixed platter of desserts "on the house".
The traditional elements all over the place combined with the sizzling barbecues you can see from your table will make the experience as authentic as it gets.

"Zissou Coffee Shop" is probably the smallest coffee shop in Bucharest, but it gathers big-hearted people. I recommend their chai latte in winter!

"La Petite Bouffe Cotroceni" in Bucharest is a cross between a French-style boulangerie, a coffee shop & a bookstore. One of my favorite lonely-time spots.

"Cofetăria Alice" in Bucharest take me back to the old days. I recommend the Tortul Jeni. Preorder it online to skip the (quite long) queues!

I also come here when I just wanna sit on a bench (there are plenty of those here) and have a snack, read a book, or even have a picnic with my loved ones.

The options are limited (and I absolutely love that) & every burger has ingredients matched to perfection from the thyme and garlic toasted sourdough bun.

Every sandwich on the menu comes with a pickle so you just have to order some fries for a full menu (my go-to is the pastrami poutine version)...

Both young and old now gather here for a cheap beer and the best mici in town! Be prepared for LONG waiting lines, especially on festive days and weekends.

Everything is done taqueria style: there are 5-6 tables inside, everything you order is served in less than 5 minutes, and you're gonna eat it even faster.

The name B.A.R is an acronym for “almost Romanian kitchen” which hints that, here, you’re gonna eat reinterpretations or adaptations of Romanian dishes.
