Whenever I am around the city center and I have a free hour between meetings or tasks, I enjoy taking a break and go to at least one book shop to check out the newest books released and to look for some bargains. Modul Cărturești, situated at the ground floor of the University of Architecture and Urbanism of Bucharest, is a one-of-a-kind book shop, because it has a great selection of books on artistic fields – painting, architecture, photography or visual culture in general. Some of the books are introductory, so you do not have to worry if you work or study in totally different fields.

Aesthetically speaking, some books are by themselves some kind of works of art, because their creators paid a lot of attention on choosing the proper kind of paper, the most relevant typography style and the best images to illustrate the texts. These books, even simply seen as objects and not even knowing to read texts written in Romanian, are so beautiful due to their paper texture and their palette of colors.

Film lovers, there is a shelf dedicated to cinematographic culture and the books are selected and recommended by Andrei Gorzo (film critic).
