A small restaurant in Cairo with authentic Egyptian food and decorations is how I would describe Darb shakamba.
it is a small restaurant but their menu is full of all kinds of Egyptian food, it’s a great place for breakfast, their ful platters are fantastic - my favorite is the ful with pastrami. Their falafel is crunchy and delicious. Dinners in Darb Shakamba are a must; prepare yourself for a heavy and delicious meal of Egyptian feteer (pie) which is stuffed layers of perfection. I usually go for feteer with sausage and pastrami but all feteer is delicious and it’s something that every Egyptian and everyone visiting Egypt must try.
The decorations in the restaurant are made to resemble an old Egyptian puppet show called El Aila El Kbeera and it’s very cheerful and colorful which makes this a great place for a casual gathering of friends or family. My only issue with the restaurant is that it can be too loud sometimes but overall the atmosphere is really nice.
