Dearborn Denim originated in Hyde Park, also home to University of Chicago, the Museum of Science and Industry, and the Obama’s house. They make all of their jeans in Chicago, employing locals, and selling to locals. They also source 100% of their materials from within the U.S..

Taking “local” to another level, Dearborn Denim doesn’t finish their jeans before they reach the shelves. They leave them un-hemmed so that once you pick the pair you want, an on-site tailor hems them to the height and final fit that you want, applying the the final stitches at a sewing machine behind the counter within 5 or 10 minutes. The price of the jeans includes the custom tailoring! If you decide later that you want them taken up a little more, you can go back for free alterations. They offer a good variety of high to low rise inseam options, different cuts, and different washes. If the Hyde Park location is too far south, check out the north side shop on N. Clark in  Andersonville.
