Four Moon Tavern may seem simple on the outside, but this neighborhood bar has a lot to offer. I'm a sucker for a tavern situated on the corner of a block surrounded by residential homes, and Four Moon is no exception.
It's also located in my favorite Chicago neighborhood of Roscoe Village, which is, in my opinion, one of the most friendly and relaxing Chicago areas. Four Moon offers seats on the patio with an overhead covering for inclement weather; in the summer the patio is decorated with beautiful flower arrangements. The inside is decorated with wooden walls, a pool table at the ready for those looking to play, and a secret back area, or at least somewhat hidden, that displays an artful collection of beer cans on the back wall.
Make sure to come here hungry as Four Moon has excellent food options alongside their inexpensive and extensive beer list. The pizza is baked fresh and is worth the wait. They also offer English plates like fish and chips and shepherd's pie. For a healthier item, get their hummus plate served with pita bread and sliced vegetables. Or, get the meatloaf plate which is my father's first choice when he's in the area.
My other favorite aspect about this spot is the staff. They are extremely affable people who can easily provide menu suggestions and are quick to serve another round. At Four Moon, you'll always feel welcomed.
