Larry's is a small bar in an apartment building. It's one of the best additions to my neighborhood in Chicago in the last 3 years.
Built in 1928, The Lawerence House was renovated and reopened in 2016. For decades prior it had been low-income housing, unfortunately it was not taken care of and the building had fallen into disrepair.
Having been restored to its 1920s roots has allowed the building to flourish and adding Larry's to the lobby has provided the apartments above and the surrounding neighborhood with a great local watering hole. Larry's has cocktails, beer and wine. As I mentioned, it is small, just a handful of bar seats, and four tables. Not to worry though, you can order your drink and enjoy in the lobby that has leather chairs and lounging couches.
In warmer weather you can take your drink to the sprawling back patio. Coming here will make you want to move into the Lawrence House for the pure fact you could hang out at Larry's nightly and take an elevator to your bed. In addition to Larry's, The Lawrence House has a diner and a cafe attached to the lobby. Check the Facebook page for Sunday Jazz and Taco nights, it a great way to end a weekend.
