Ice cream is my favorite dessert. I will order a scoop of ice cream at a restaurant despite the dessert menu boasting cake, creme brûlée, or cherry pie. So having a place like Lickity Spilt in my neighborhood is my idea of perfect. At Lickity Split you can get a made-to-order "concrete" off their menu or you can pick your ingredients to go into your concrete. A concrete is frozen custard that is blended with your favorite ingredients so your "toppings" are not just on top but part of every bite.
My favorite ingredient is Reese's Pieces but Lickity Split does not have them on their menu, so they allow me to take some from their candy section and add it to my order, allowing me to enjoy a chocolate Reese's Pieces concrete. This past winter, on a -15 degree windchill day in Chicago, I wanted dessert but I was not in the mood for ice-cream, so I tried a Lickity's Split's giant dark chocolate peanut butter cup. Their peanut butter cups are so giant I used a knife and fork to eat it!
In the summer time, the line will wiggle through the store, which might scare some dessert seekers off but the line moves quickly and is worth the wait. You can explore the variety of candies as you move through the line.
