In a time when fewer people carry cash and change, it can be a bummer to find oneself without enough quarters for a round of pool. Meeting House Tavern is one place you can be assured such a dilemma won’t happen. The pool table is FREE! In fact, all of the games are free – darts, shuffleboard, skee-ball, and shelves of board games! That’s not all, there is also FREE POPCORN!
There are two bars: one downstairs and one upstairs. Downstairs there are larger tables where you can spread out board games or order food from the restaurant next door, Hutch. Upstairs there smaller two-tops and bar high tables mixed among the pool and shuffleboard tables.
The majority of Meeting House regulars tend to be 20- to 40-something year old LGBTQ folks, but anyone is welcome. My wife and I took my 81 year old father-in-law for Bloody Marys and a few rounds of darts, no one felt out of place. Speaking of Bloody Marys, they’re only $5 on Sat & Sun, and they’re DELICIOUS!
A couple days to note: Wednesday night is Country Night, the DJ will be playing some nostalgic, prime country-era jams; Sunday afternoons there is a free drag show, brings some singles for the ladies!
Also recommended in the area: Chicago Magic Lounge, Bar Roma, Hutch, Hopleaf, and Konak!
