There are several places to eat at and around the United Center, but nothing is more local and authentic than dining at the Palace Grill before a big game. With old school parlor bar seats, checkered floors and stained steel counter tops and tables, this famed spot is the place to go to start the pre-game fun.
The diner menu offers classic American breakfast and lunch fare, including a hearty Denver Omelet and Skirt Steak and Eggs dish. This spot has been open for 75 years and is infamous for feeding the Blackhawks team before practice (usually with multiple orders of the “heart stoppers”, the diner’s infamous egg sandwiches).
This spot may be well-known to local celebrities, but with the hospitality, friendliness and camaraderie you get while dining at the restaurant, you would think you were the special one to discover this hidden gem.
ADDED BONUS: they offer free off-street parking behind the restaurant.
