Wormhole in Wicker Park, Chicago (one of two locations) is my favorite coffee shop in the city. When you walk in, it feels like you have stepped back in time to the ’80s; the coffee shop is decorated with a statue of a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle, a first-generation Macintosh computer, vintage lunchboxes bordering the ceiling, and a lifesized DeLorean from the movie Back to the Future.
Whether you came into Wormhole to work, study, or just grab one of the best chai tea lattes and cold brew pours around (made with locally roasted Halfwit), the space is both an inviting and pleasant place to sit. If studying or working isn’t your thing, you can sometimes also play on their original Nintendo game in the back.
Wormhole is in a prime spot to get away from the hustle and bustle of Milwaukee Avenue, however, be warned: Wormhole is on the smaller side so their seats and tables can fill up fast. Once you’re done with your coffee, several bars, restaurants, thrift stores, and bookstores await you in this ever-changing neighborhood.
