Chisinau Central Jail has never been an attractive spot. Actually, I think no jail can be considered a nice place to be in or around, but there is no need to get in jail, just to understand how great the area around it might be.
In the Historical Center of Chisinau there is only one jail, a very famous one. In the 19th century, it was a gorgeous medieval-looking castle, but the earthquake of 1940 heavily damaged it. The complex occupies a large block of the city, right next to the WWII Memorial. This is why this part of the city is very quiet and green -- such important things nowadays.
This jail got famous in the last years when our Prime Minister and City Mayor went inside it for several corruption scandals. Since that time, more citizens like our jail.
If you cannot find this place - you can ask locals, most of them will easily show you the right direction.
