You have a craving for coffee and something – you just can’t pinpoint what it is.
Don’t worry, I know what it is. It’s a trip to a Kaffekilden, when you need a break from shopping at Vesterbrogade or on your way to a concert at Vega, and you need some decent food before you get there, Kaffestuen is the place.
The coffee is spot on, but that’s every café in Copenhagen for you. The food is what’s really the main attraction. Most of it is vegan, everything is vegetarian, but don’t worry carnivores, you do not turn into a green tree hugging hippie because of it. You actually don’t even notice that your normal source of protein is missing.
They have daily salads, a selection of sandwiches, freshly made juice with kick ass combinations, cakes in abundance and if you’re out a bit early, they have a brunch Platte that will knock your socks off (Friday, Saturday and Sunday). Go for a Rosemary/truffle sandwich with oyster mushroom to kill the hunger and indulge your taste buds.
The whole café is the incarnation of the Danish word “hygge” with an exposed brick wall, fireplace and old school furniture that you sink into. Try to leave in a hurry – I dare you.
