In a newly built and developed area of Copenhagen, you will find an architectural masterpiece right next to the waterfront. Inside this enormous and beautiful building lies the UN City of Copenhagen. Saying that it’s the UN City is a gross simplification of what goes on inside the building. Here you’ll find up to twelve organisations that are part of the United Nations, namely: the WHO, with focus on worlds health, UNDP with focus on sustainable development according to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, and many more.
Last time I was at the UN City here in Copenhagen, I was attending an event named ‘YouthSpeak Forum’ organised by the NGO I work for, AIESEC. It was focused on Artificial Intelligence and sustainable development. Many events are held here regularly, however if you wish to enter as a regular guest the accessibility is rather scarce. Every Friday, at 2 pm, however, there is a free guided tour around the building.
But even if you are not in Copenhagen on a Friday, it is still worthwhile going to Nordhavn and seeing the building of the UN City and walking around the channels and along the water. On a sunny day, it will be a well-chosen area and place to spend your time!
