I love a bar with a kooky twist, and Paradise Palms certainly ticks that box! Located up in Edinburgh’s Old Town, this tropical-inspired bar is a hipster’s dream. As you enter, you can’t help but spot the colourful bunting and teddy bears (yup, teddy bears!) that decorate the ceiling, alongside the vinyl records and brilliantly coloured Christmas lights scattering the walls. Â
This cool destination bar boasts a record store and velvet couch chillout zone through the back. They are best known by Edinburgh locals for their tasty vegetarian/vegan food and imaginative event days. The name of the game here is vegetarian junk food: chilli cheese fries, mac ‘n’ cheese, buffalo cauliflower, etc. I love heading there with friends for a sharing cocktail – don’t miss the giant Paradise Lost cocktail (served in a big glass skull!). Drinking solo? It’d be rude not to try a ‘Ricky Martini.’
If you’re planning on making the trip to Paradise Palms, be sure to pay their Facebook page a visit to check out their upcoming events. They frequently host Drag bingo, Vintage pop-up sales and live DJ nights, and these get-togethers are always a great experience.

I had Mushroom and Thyme soup that was astonishingly delicious and homemade Apple and Rhubarb Crumble with Creme Pat Custard that was to die for.
