Rogue Bros only opened this month and is run by two brothers who claim to be a pair of rogues. Hence the name. It's sit-in or take-away, although the sit-in space is limited. I had lunch there recently and can reliably inform you it is outstanding. James (the Chef) was Executive Chef at Buzzworks, but is back in the saddle making stuff again (and when I say 'stuff' I mean award winning quality stuff). All homemade, all from scratch, all delicious.
I had Mushroom and Thyme soup (£3.50 with bread) that was astonishingly delicious and homemade Apple and Rhubarb Crumble (£4) with Creme Pat Custard that was to die for. The perfect combination of crunch in the crumble, gorgeous unctuous custard, and a double flavour hit of sweet apple and sour rhubarb. Truly outstanding.
Their sandwiches, all with funky names like The Rogue, Livin' on the Veg, or Insta Famous, are all delicious too, made in Ciabatta that is imported from "Down South" and delivered daily. Any leftovers go to a homeless charity and the local food bank, so they are good guys too. Lastly, their coffee (from Forth Coffee) is bangin'. It's an outstanding addition to this pretty coastal suburb of Edinburgh's increasingly excellent foodie scene. Well worth the trip.
