For me, this is a very unlikely place to go to, but a few birthday parties have brought me there, and I’m kind of glad they did. The square is near the Station of Santa Maria Novella, so it’s right in the centre but it’s not a crowded site, and it’s therefore not impossible to find a parking space.
When you enter Dome, you get the gist as to why it’s called that, it’s a circular room with a dome roof and a beautiful glass skylight. The interior is furnished with very few things: you can sit at wooden tables, garden furniture or pallets, and the plants on the walls give this place a modern “jardin d’hiver” feeling. But it’s the dome itself that’s the main interest here, they project suggestive videos and effects on the roof, which makes Dome a little magical.
Drinks are not particularly surprising, my long island ice tea was average, but my friends’ Spritz’ were quite good. If you go for an aperitivo they might not have a lot of choice, but all the dishes are very well cooked. I like the fact that the music isn’t loud, and you can talk to your friends without screaming.
Don’t forget to dress up a bit, and enjoy the lights surrounding you!
