When it comes to gelato, finding a hidden gem amidst touristy spots can be a challenge. However, Gelateria Edoardo defies all expectations and delivers an exceptional gelato experience right on Piazza Duomo.
Growing up in a tourist city, I've been cautioned about the potential disappointments of centrally located establishments. But Gelateria Edoardo breaks the mold. And it has secured a spot in my personal top 5 gelato parlours in Florence. While the prices may be slightly higher than average, hovering around €4 for the smallest portion, the quality justifies every penny. Edoardo uses organic ingredients, and their attention to detail extends even to the cones. Yes, the cones are handcrafted right before your eyes, sometimes still warm from the press!
The gelato itself is heavenly. Dense, rich, and bursting with flavor. Even their vegan options have skeptics changing their minds. From the fresh and juicy peach to the exquisite pistachio, every flavor is a triumph.
The shop exudes charm with its vintage and shabby-chic style. However, due to its small size, expect a wait during peak hours. The queue can stretch for up to half an hour, but trust me when I say it's worth every minute.
