Sugar Blues Florence

Alternative market and herb shop

Veronica from Florence

About me I am an artist/dancer/freelancer, originally from Los Angeles, California. I began traveling at age 17 and feel like I have been traveling ever since (naturally, I'm a Sagittarius). I like to say that, in 2015, I fell down a rabbit hole here in Florence. Other than traveling, the things I treasure are: farms and farmers' markets, cooking/hosting dinners with friends, tasting/learnin...
""Sugar Blues" is a combination of a health food and rare-herb heaven in Florence. It's one of the few places in the city that has kombucha, for example..."

This is a kind of health-food, rare-herb heaven. This is the perfect place for a health nerd like myself, who has searched all over the city for a certain tea or a bottle of kombucha with no luck at all, until I found it here. Conveniently posted on via Serragli -- between piazza Santo Spirito and Piazza Tasso -- it’s a bit like a grandiose bottega. On a sunny afternoon, one could presumably stop by and pick up an organic artisanal beer from the fridge, or a kombucha, or a coconut water, and enjoy a DIY aperitivo in one of the many nearby piazzas.

But that’s not all! This tiny market manages to also be a well-stocked health food store and an herbalist shop as well. There is a bakery section, where, if you're lucky, you might find their banana buckwheat bread or their hemp-flour schiacciata.

Then, if you really wander, you’ll happen upon the almost-hidden apothecary in the back. If looking for more personal advice on general health or nutrition, you can book a one-on-one appointment with their naturopath on staff. If you're on the go, you might take more interest in their wide array of healthy, travel-friendly snacks.

Florence Spotter Veronica

About me I am an artist/dancer/freelancer, originally from Los Angeles, California. I began traveling at age 17 and feel like I have been traveling ever since (naturally, I'm a Sagittarius). I like to say that, in 2015, I fell down a rabbit hole here in Florence. Other than traveling, the things I treasure are: farms and farmers' markets, cooking/hosting dinners with friends, tasting/learning about wine, discovering new places, dancing, spending time in gardens, and walking in the hills in and around Florence. Why Florence I originally found myself in Florence in 2015,...

Banki Ramen

Italian ramen bar

Everybody knows "Banki Ramen" in Florence. This Japanese/Italian restaurant seems really cheap, as if stuck in the '80s, but the food wins everyone over!
