The Gran Cru is born as a shop where you can taste beers sitting on its counter or buy beers to bring home.
There was always been a friendly atmosphere in the shop, the customers are easygoing, you easily find yourself chatting with somebody and sharing some chips with them! If you are even interested in homebrewing, you find all you need at the Gran Cru: hop, malt, and all the suggestions and tricks to do it well by Francesco, the owner. He can also suggest you the right beer to drink on the sofa, while you are eating, or just to drink with friends.
It was so succesful that Francesco decided to move in a bigger spot just across the street .
Nothing has changed: the Gran Cru has still many kind of beers: red, blonde, white etc and more than 400 craft beers from all over the world. If you aren't sure about what you want to drink, Francesco can suggest you the right beer. He tells you a story of a beer and what it tastes like, as a sommelier would do with wine. You can taste some different beers and then choose one to drink there or at home.
Well, something has changed though: now, Francesco serves tasting "schiacciate ripiene" (flatbread stuffed) with fresh and local ingredients.
The Gran Cru is between the city center and Parco dell'Anconella, in the south part of Florence. It is 30 minutes on foot from Ponte Vecchio.
