If you think eating vegan is dull, you must think twice. At least if you happen to climb the few stairs and open the glass door which takes you to Aux Deux Portes - the heaven of vegan creativity in Geneva.
Don't get me wrong - I love bread, milk and eggs. I am Italian after all. But in this tiny bistrot in the Servette neighborhood, Yves - the master chef - made me discover that vegan food can reach delicious, unimagined heights.
I love to sit by the window table listening to the soft music as Yves bakes the yummy banana bread, or prepares his "tartelettes" with fresh raspberries that melt in my mouth. I sip black organic coffee or fresh Japanese Bancha tea while tasting the "plat du jour" (usually a wonderful mix of seasonal ingredients which look like a work of art). I relax as I admire the shelves full of corn chips, organic maple syrup, and ayurvedic teas.
At Aux Deux Portes, I know I can eat healthy, but I never leave hungry. What's even better, the place warms my heart and my soul as well as my stomach. It's magic.
But don't tell too many people...the place is too special, we want to keep it a secret!
