Εat with your hands
Located on a side street off Plainpalais square, Nyala Barka is one of the best Ethiopian/Eritrean restaurants I have ever tried in all of Geneva!
My friends took me there last week and I am already wishing to go back to Nyala Barka as soon as possible, I can’t just get enough! Their injeras are simply mouth-watering, soo tasty and full of flavour, impossible to resist.
We ordered a Nyala Royal (a dish including a sample of almost everything they have on their menu): the food came out nicely served in one large sharing plate for 6 people. No cutlery needed, just break off bits of bread, scoop it in and enjoy the amazing taste of this heart-warming food! A bit messy, but good fun overall.
We managed to finish it all very quickly, even though the portions are very generous and not disappointing. The baklava we had for dessert was delicious too, a great way to end a very pleasant dinner experience!
The waiters were friendly, the ambiance very familiar and relaxed with typical African style furniture and music in the background. Highly recommended if you wish to try something different and you feel comfortable in eating with your hands and love sharing with your friends… after all, as we say, sharing is caring!
