Shanti Club is a true oasis of peace and tranquillity in the middle of the city. In the funky Grottes neighbourhood, this lovely, wooden-floored place is much more than a yoga haven. There is yoga, of course – and all kinds of it: dharma, hatha, kundalini, restorative, vinyasa, and even yoga for kids on Wednesday afternoons.
But there’s much more, so much more. I tried it all: the Sound Healing meditation, which helped me relax thanks to the vibrant sound of the Tibetan bells; the “voyage sonore” – laying down on a mat, letting go, and listening to the most beautiful sounds of drums, didgeridoos, and bells, accompanied by singing. It’s not just a concert: it’s supposed to heal your body, relax your mind, and uplift your spirit. And I did get out feeling uplifted, and wanting to repeat the experience.
Every weekend there are special events: dance workshops, reiki seminars, special yoga sessions, singing and music from all over the world. And if you're feeling like a special, Zen-kind-of-break at lunchtime, you can just pop in for a one-hour yoga session, sound mediation, or Qi Gong class.
At Shanti Club I can forget about any mess going on in my life and simply tune into beauty and relaxation. To have a place like this, and to have it nearby, is just bliss.
