I like hanging out a lot. This is a spot where you can sit down and let the time pass by while eating small bits of Portuguese food and drinking Portuguese drinks. Which means: pasteis de nata, galao, vinho verde... you name it. The best: it has decent prices for food and drinks and if you still need to do some groceries, you can do them here. They sell jambon (fiamble) and cheese, oil and wine... And all is fine.
You step into the Portuguese universe by taking some small steps down into the shop/café. Or you can stay outside and watch everyone pass by the lively street, outdoor cinema included. Last time I sat there I was able to catch a look of a dinosaur walking by just before I went to nearby Schauspielhaus. It is an artsy part of town with many nationalities, so grab your drink and hang out a bit. And the central station plus the Alster Lake are not too far away.
