I have a weakness for romantic, ivy-covered buildings. That's probably why I fell in love with this tiny little wine tavern when I first saw it from the outside – and it didn't disappoint me at all, when I went inside. The cozy atmosphere with the wooden furniture and the friendly, warmhearted waiters make you feel welcome immediately.
The wine menu, which changes seasonally, offers a fine selection of great wines. They also have an almost daily changing menu of dishes. The selection is small (about three to four different dishes for each appetizer, main and dessert), but they always offer a vegetarian option as well. The food is always very tasty and will be prepared by the chef right in front of you in the open kitchen. If you only want a snack to accompany your drink, they always serve great cheese plates, which match their wine perfectly.
Since the restaurant is so small, you might either want to make reservations or be willing to share a table with other guests – the tavern is located in St. Pauli, so people are usually very relaxed and open-minded towards strangers. It's a great place to have a relaxed wine evening with your friends or as a start into a night of partying at the 'Kiez'.
