I used to live very close to the Mexican border for quite a while and I had the privilege to hang out at my Mexican friends’ grandmas’ houses and enjoy their elaborate cooking skills whenever I wanted to. So when I returned to Hamburg, I was in desperate need of a good Mexican restaurant that wouldn’t only serve the all-the-same-Taco-Bell-food. I had to be patient – but once Mexiko Strasse opened their doors, I knew it was worth it.
Mexiko Strasse is a buzzing, colorful and vibrant little restaurant located close to our infamous Reeperbahn. Their concept is quite simple – you will be served a collection of delicious tacos paired with the typical Mexican Sol beer, a tasty Margarita or their homemade agua fresca del día (a cool, non-alcoholic drink made out of fruits or vegetables). Especially in the evenings, it gets pretty busy, and you might have to wait for a table (no reservations), but the tacos are worth it!
