Ohhh, yesterday I found a gem and I am tempted to move to Wilhelmsburg now, a district of Hamburg south of the Elbe and not nearby my usual hood, but their Vietnamese restaurant WAT DAT PHỞ is unlike usual Vietnamese restaurants. They even serve it with quẩy (fried bread), which is warm and made in their food stall.
I was in vegetarian heaven as I tried the soup made of broth, rice noodles called bánh phở, and a few herbs with tofu wantan. All home-made, with extraordinary texture and quality. I found myself back in Vietnam. The plastic stools were the only thing missing; you sit outside at typical German beerbenches and maybe hear Turkish pop from the neighbourhood while inside the restaurant they play Vietnamese songs from Youtube.
I would have loved to eat more but wasn't able to. Such a shame. I need to come back asap. By the way: check out the surrounding area, as there are many canals where you can stroll and enjoy the Hamburg waterside.
