Many cities host pedal boats in one of their park lakes but LA is one of the few able to do this all year round. ‘Weather permitting’ is not really part of our vocabulary. With sunny days galore, sometimes even the beach gets old and other daytime activities come to the forefront. The most fun and relaxing one for me is the Echo Park Pedal Boats. It’s something anyone can do and enjoy and, with the proximity to Downtown, you get amazing views of the city (and the nature around you) while you do this. Just be careful not to get too close to the iconic Echo Park Lake fountain, as you might get seriously wet.
The same company also offers canoe and gondola rides, if you feel like doing something different. There’s also a café in the premises, with basic snacks. Afterwards, it’s great to get some ice cream and walk around the area. This is easily one of the most beautiful parks in Los Angeles. In such a place, you’re also bound to run into some ducks and even some geese – watch out for the latter, of course!
