My favorite art museum in Los Angeles.
The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA for locals) is the largest art museum in the western United States. Moved from Exposition Park in 1961, LACMA has been at its current location for 50 years.
Separate pavilions highlight different art styles. The Art of the Americas building opened in 1986 to house modern and contemporary art. Bruce Goff's innovative Pavilion for Japanese Art opened in 1988. LACMA West was acquired from the May Company department store building at the corner of Wilshire and Fairfax. The Broad Contemporary Art Museum, a three-story exhibition of Contemporary and Modern art building opened in 2008. Ray's restaurant and Stark Bar opened in 2011 in the main courtyard attract visitors at night.
Even though general admission to LACMA is $15, one can view special free events on their calendar page. Popular exhibits include those by Tim Burton and Stanley Kubrick.
The picture above are these small elevators at the Broad Contemporary.
LAMCA is doing lots of constructions to expand the back of the old Macy building right now. Also, traffic around the area is bad due to Subway construction.
Oh, I like Picasso!
Levitated Mass (everyone comes here to take pictures, also the street lamps)
Check website for updated exhibitions and a lot more!!!
