The Bradbury has been around since 1893 and is one of the most beautiful buildings in the whole city, yet it attracts far fewer tourists and visitors than most LA landmarks. The ones that make it out to see its astonishing interiors are usually left speechless - although the quiet atmosphere is also in part due to the constant presence of security guards. They do allow for basic photography around the main floor and (partially) the staircase, but access to the elevator and the higher floors is restricted, as this is still an office building with many different tenants. Unless, of course, you have an appointment scheduled with any of the businesses at the top somehow...
The facade isn't particularly glamorous, but the Bradbury more than makes up for it with the features inside. From its marble stairs to the wrought iron everywhere, it is a sight to behold. The space has been featured in many films, most notably Blade Runner and, most recently, (500) Days of Summer (a movie that’s a love letter to LA architecture). While this will likely be a quick stop, or part of a larger Downtown LA outing, it's worth taking the time to visit and reflect on the Bradbury's history and magnificent design.
