One of the most easily overlooked boutiques in the Golden Triangle of Beverly Hills is one you cannot find elsewhere and is one that is my favorite as well as the favorite of numerous locals.
That boutique is the Cheese Store of Beverly Hills.
Run by Norbert, an aging hippie from Topanga Canyon, the tiny yet venerable store has been in operation for nearly fifty years. Lest one be fooled by its small size or simple name, it is akin to Fauchon in Paris, the Harrod’s Food Hall in London, or Eli Zabar’s in New York City.
When you first enter the boutique, you will be struck by the powerful aroma of cheeses and the dazzling display of food stuffs. Indeed, the boutique features the widest selection of cheeses imaginable from all over the world. Additionally, the boutique maintains a full wine selection, fresh baked breads, a vast charcuterie selection, cooking oils and food accompaniments fit for any leading chef, and a broad variety of gourmet snack foods.
The boutique’s staff have all been personally trained by Norbert and held to his meticulous standards. They are incredibly knowledgeable about food products yet always friendly and welcoming. This comes in handy when you’re trying to put together the perfect cheese platter or hors d'oeuvres plate for a dinner party.
Whether you are planning the perfect party, you wish to enjoy a food experience, or you just are hungry for a snack, I highly recommend a visit.
