Los Angeles is the second largest city in the U.S. and is filled with lots of activities to do in nature. We have over 60 miles worth of hiking trails in the area, including beautiful vistas and wild animal viewing, all made more enjoyable because we get to experience it in perfect weather! One of my favorite trails is the Los Liones Canyon Trail.
To reach the trailhead, take PCH to Sunset Blvd and make a left at the second stoplight, just before the fire station. There is plenty of street parking. The trail is about 2.5 miles (4.0 km) round trip. This trail makes me feel as if I have completely escaped the city life. It meanders up a mountainside that (thankfully) for the bulk of the trail is shaded. The shade of the trees is a lifesaver in the summer afternoons! The trail does not have technical difficulty, but it gets my heart pumping!
At the top, the trail connects on to another trail that is over 5 miles long, which connects to various other hikes atop the mountain, all of which have a higher difficulty level than the Los Liones Canyon Trail. The view from the top is incredible - you can see the Pacific Ocean, the Channel Islands, and most of Los Angeles' west side.
