I've been coming to Simply Wholesome since I was a little girl. My Dad’s best friend Purcell owns the restaurant, and we’re so lucky to know him. He’s been a pioneer of healthy food in the hood (our home) since the 70s and contributes greatly to the health of our community.
Simply Wholesome is a restaurant, store, and a cultural icon. In the restaurant, the flavours are rich and distinct. Caribbean soul and the jerk of Jamaica, Mon! I love their spinach patties ($5) & Boyz n Berries Smoothie ($8). The patties come in 5 different flavours and will never do you wrong. The meals are incredible too!
At the store, you’ll find everything from groceries to supplements to natural hair care and eco-friendly items. I like to buy skincare, essential oils and sage. No nasty chemicals. All conscious and thoughtfully curated.
Culturally, it’s housed in a historic landmark. On the weekends, it's not surprising to hear live jazz or reggae on the patio. Celebrities like George Clinton and Erykah Badu eat here. It was also a film location in Eddie Murphy’s “You People” on Netflix. It’s really iconic and a great place to be.
Simply Wholesome is a legendary hotspot for anyone who wants to feel good about what they put into their body. Their motto: "Your overall health and well-being is why we exist, giving you our best effort and energy."
