Pivo is a Czech bar and one of my favourite places to grab a beer in Malmö.
Just a stone’s throw away from Malmö’s central station, it’s easy to get to on foot from any of the main downtown squares of Malmö, too.
One of their dishes is called Hermelin - pickled cheese with onion, chilli and bread. A bartender at Pivo said they’ve even had Czech patrons say how great it is even compared to Hermelin from home.
The interior décor feels like it’s been teleported directly from the most Czech looking bar one could ever imagine, even if one has never been inside one – long wooden benches and rustic tables, and to top it off, and my favourite thing about the bar, there is only one beer on tap.
An expression I love is ‘people should stick to what they are good at’, and Pivo for sure does a draft beer to perfection, without pretentiously trying to overdo it like most bars in Sweden with 3 or 4 lagers on tap that are all mediocre at best.
Pivo’s hand-picked draft beer comes from a brewery in the Czech countryside and it' also poured to perfection with the right-sized and shaped glasses, large and small. But it’s more financially sound to get the large one in the long run, unless you are popping in for a beer for 5 minutes between shopping rounds or touristy stops.
Na zdraví!
