Mockingbirds is my favourite place to shop for clothes in the whole of Manchester. I'm not usually very good at shopping, but coming to this lovely independent boutique in Withington Village is always a treat.
The lady who runs the shop is very friendly and encouraging, helping me to put outfits together that I wouldn't usually go for and just be a bit more daring! Most recently, I came away with a bright green pair of trousers and a 1950s-style dress with a sloth pattern. It's very cute.
She has a great selection of ladies clothing, dresses, skirts, trousers, shoes, as well as accessories. What I really like about it is that you won't find these individual pieces in many other shops, if any.
Price-wise, Mockingbirds is very affordable. Often you'll find things in the sale, but even the full-price items are similarly priced to high street stores (somewhere between H&M and Topshop).
When Mockingbirds first opened a few years ago, it seemed like quite a bold move to open a boutique on Withington's High Street. At the time, there was very little going on aside from a couple of cafes and lots of charity shops. But in recent years, more and more interesting and unique enterprises have opened and thrived. Mockingbirds has definitely played a big part in Withington's transformation.
