Sugar Junction is a lovely vintage style cafe located just off one of the main streets in the Northern Quarter. I feel like I've stepped back in time every time I pop in for a cup of tea, as it's decorated with pin-up and war posters, and they're always playing old-school music.
They serve a good selection of loose leaf teas, in pots for either one or two, and their tea is served in beautiful China tea sets. I'm working my way through their menu, but a current favourite is their elderflower tea. They also do a great cup of joe, if you're not in the tea mood.
Sugar Junction is my favourite place to go for a classic afternoon tea. It comes with everything you could need: sandwiches, scones, 4 types of their homemade cakes and you can add on a glass of prosecco or a vintage cocktail if you fancy. But don't worry if you're not feeling up to a whole "indoor picnic" of afternoon tea -- they have a great brunch and sandwich menu too. I would recommend their Eggs Benedict or Eggs Royal. It gets quite busy around weekend lunch times, but you can make bookings on their website.
Open until 9pm from Tuesdays to Fridays and until 11pm on Saturdays, Sugar Junction is great if you're looking for a quiet spot to have a vintage cocktail or G&T.
