MUAC Mexico City

Contemporary art museum

Rafael from Mexico City

About me I am a life learner and lover. I just finished my medical doctor social service and will continue on a specialty soon, but for now, dealing with death in my profession helps me keep in mind that we have to live each day as the last, because we certainly never know. I try not to waste so much time doing things that do not nourish me spiritually, emotionally, intellectual...
""MUAC", or the Museo Universtiario de Arte Contemporaneo in Mexico City (est. 2008) can really set my imagination free with its creative & sensory exhibits"

The MUAC, Museo Universitario de Arte Contemporáneo, built in 2008, has been a spearhead for contemporary art in Mexico. From the moment you arrive, you can admire the architectural beauty from the outside of the building.

The place consists of 9 rooms with different themes, depending on the exhibition. Certainly, in some rooms the art is a bit abstract, but in others, the exhibition encourages you to use senses such as touch, hearing and of course imagination. There are also two outdoor spaces with some benches which are a bit hidden from where you can also appreciate the place.

One of the rooms where you can set your imagination free is the area of sound experimentation, a room that seems to be closed but just pull and you will find an acoustically isolated room in which several sounds are played continuously, sometimes confusing you about what may or may not be real. On the walls, there are small wooden pyramids that give it a unique visual impact.

If at the end you get a little bit hungry, on the lower floor you can find the restaurant, open from Mon - Tue 09:00 to 18:00 & Wed - Sun 08:00 to 20:00. The place is surrounded by a natural environment composed of volcanic rocks that give it a feeling of serenity and calm.

Nearby you will also find some other places for cultural activities, like the concert hall Sala Nezahualcóyotl, the Jose Revueltas theater and much more to discover. Take a look also at the site

About me I am a life learner and lover. I just finished my medical doctor social service and will continue on a specialty soon, but for now, dealing with death in my profession helps me keep in mind that we have to live each day as the last, because we certainly never know. I try not to waste so much time doing things that do not nourish me spiritually, emotionally, intellectually or in a healthy way. Time goes by so fast that it's a shame to waste it. I also worry about the planet and our impact on the Earth, so I try to pollute less, recycle more and use our natural resour...
