The Cantina Salón Paris, also called La Paris, is a typical family cantina whose tradition and the homelike taste of its food combine to make an ideal duo. It's an excellent place where I often go to eat and drink without having to go over my student budget.
A cantina is something like this place: a typical Mexico City bar-restaurant where, with the consumption of drinks, either of beer or different alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, you get the so-called "la botana", which is no more than traditional food served at no extra cost.
The drinks are not as expensive as in some other cantinas, and the ball of draft beer (beer served in a large glass) costs about 50 pesos, whether it's served plain, michelada or with clamato. The rest of the drinks with different liquors cost around 70 to 80 pesos. With every order of 3 beers or 3 drinks you get "la botana".
When you go, ask for Don Félix (he is the one that appears on the picture with a black shirt), the best and friendliest waiter; his service is always very fast and attentive, so it's not bad to reward him with a 10 or 15% on what you consumed.
There is a lot of variety in the menu, but the best days to visit are from Thursday to Sunday, when they make the most delicious dishes.
