La Increíble Librería – More than a bookstore

The name of this place can be translated as The incredible bookstore and yes, it is. It was founded by Alejandro Magallanes and Selva Hernández, a couple of well known Mexican graphic designers. Alejandro is also an illustrator and Selva an expert on old books.

The first thing I noticed when I walked into the bookstore wwere the oversized bookshelves. They are all stuck to the walls and they cover them from floor to ceiling. The room has double height ceilings that give the sense of spaciousness. The book stock is diverse there is old/rare stuff and new editions from independent publishers on sale.

At the bookstore you can talk with Selva or Alejandro to ask for recommendations, they or their employees will help you choose the perfect one. Most of the titles are related to subjects such as art, design, history and literature. The books change constantly so every visit will be full of surprises.
