If you wanna taste the original “Negroni Sbagliato”, Milan’s Bar Basso is the place for you. Bar Basso is one of the best old style cafès/ dive bars in our city: more than a true wonder, Bar Basso is a historical landmark of Milanese culture.

It’s easy to get caught in the “new style” aperitivo machine, but if you wanted to learn more about Milan’s original aperitivo Bar Basso would be the top choice: before our “happy hour” turned into an all-you-can-eat buffet that mostly offers poor quality food and drinks, in fact, aperitivo was an excuse to meet people and have a glass of wine with just a little something. Even though something got lost in translation, Bar Basso keeps it all the old way, both the tradition and the feeling.

The waiters still serve aperitivo the old fashioned way, so your drink will come with a few olives, focaccia and small hors-d’oeuvres. Don’t expect big buffets, and don’t expect modern, fancy decor, but rather a portal to Milan’s postwar period, a place in time and space where everything seemed possible. Among more than 500 drinks in the list you can enjoy a spot on Negroni or ask for Bar Basso’s Sbagliato, as this is where Negroni Sbagliato was invented!

Bar Basso has been doing it the proper way since 1947 and people love meeting here in the afternoons and on Friday nights especially. Get ready to go back in time in this authentic, historical cafè and feel old Milan’s vibe.
