In one of most bustling and creative parts of the city, Porta Genova; after getting an aperitivo on the river I Navigli, maybe in one of the small bars you can find there, I suggest you try the real Pizza of Milan at the pizzeria Woodstock. It must be known by anyone who wants to approach the Italian culture that Pizza is not the same everywhere in Italy.
For example, the iconic and stereotypical pizza we all have in mind when we think about this product is the pizza of Napoli, as it was born there. But Milano wanted its own type of pizza. Therefore, it made one that we are used to call in Italy: "pizza alta" or tall pizza. What's the difference from that from Naples? The Milano's one is taller.
So, after this brief explanation, let me tell you why I suggest the pizzeria Woodstock. In a city that changes so quickly, like Milan, and becomes more and more similar to other European metropolises, what we used to call "Vecchia Milano" (old Milano) is disappearing more and more. This restaurant is one of those which is resisting and still gives the possibility to have delicious traditional pizzas at affordable prices. Check it out!
