When I was really young I dreamed of being a knight and living in a castle and to protect it fighting on the top of a tower. In the garden of a building in Via Giannone, the residents there don't have a castle of course, but they do have the bell tower of an old church.
An ancient bell tower in a private courtyard intrigued me and I decided to figure out how it could be possible to see such an old building surrounded by more recent constructions.
Originally, around the year 1000, the Holy Trinity Church was located in the same place. The building was damaged by fire in 1616 when only the tower didn't burn. Later the district known as Borgo degli Ortolani and the Holy Bodies area was incorporated by the city of Milan and the structure preserved. Then the church was demolished completely and on the same land there are now some buildings that look like a shield protecting a memory from the past.
