There are many ways to describe Montreal. One of them is to say It’s an island with Mount Royal in the middle where you can easily get lost while searching for the famous view point above McGill campus. But there are many other green spots in the city, some pretty flat too, where you are sure to not have a view over downtown or the old town, I guarantee.
Parc Jarry is a very interesting place. It’s almost a giant sport place, maybe the perfect spot to watch people practicing complicated sports for a novice like me.You have seen people playing basketball or ping pong I’m sure, but what about trying to catch up on a baseball or cricket game while having your picnic in the sun? It's living proof of Montreal's many influences.
About cricket, games can be long, so don’t forget to pack a lot of snacks! Coming by bike, a stop at Bagel St-Viateur is probably a wise idea before finding a place on a bench or under the shade of a tree. But without a bike the park is easily reachable from at least three subway stops.
