Berlin-like Munich bar
A few years ago a new term for specifying a certain style appeared in my vocabulary: the word "Berlin-like". Whenever I tried to explain to someone that a place or something wasn't the typical Munich "schickimicki" style I would use these words.
My definition of them is: a bit stylish but in a scruffy rather than a posh way, vintage lamp shades and furniture, at least one wall with patterned wallpaper, good music, good drinks and a relaxed audience.
To me the Maroto definitely is a "berlin-like" place. I like the look and feel and the owners, who work usually behind the bar, are not trying too hard to be trendy. It all feels quite authentic to me.
Marato sell Portuguese wine as well as tapas and cocktails. Every time I have been there the music was great and I had a really good time. It is fairly small and gets quite crowded later in the evening.
