NYC is known for a lot of its culinary features, not the least of which is the New York Bagel. It’s rumored that the reason for our bagels being better is due to the quality of the water which is piped in via aqueduct from over 100 miles away. It is also rumored that NYC exports water to the Midwest for bagels and pizza crusts. The best bagels I’ve ever had come from New York City’s own Brooklyn Bagel and Coffee Company.
There are a few locations scattered around the city, 3 of which lie in Astoria, Queens. If you’re looking to start your day off right, Brooklyn Bagel and Coffee is the way to go. The bagels are enormous, and you can choose from a handful of flavors. The best part, in my opinion, are the dozens of flavors of cream cheese. There is a permanent selection including flavors such as strawberry, cannoli, garlic and herb, and veggie, as well as a weekly flavor. My favorite is probably Cool Ranch which pops up from time to time in the flavor of the week. Check out their Facebook page to find out this weeks flavor!
