Are you ready for a lot of pork juiciness? This place has been around since 1930 and has just recently expanded their hours. For a while, their bread and butter seemed to be the construction crowd from early mornings and lunches. They were open at 06:00 till only 15:00. Want a cheesesteak in the morning? Throw some egg on it and you can classify it as breakfast!
John's Roast Pork is quite simply the best roast pork sandwich in the city. They have been around for almost 90 years so they must be doing something right! The pork has just been sitting in its own juices all day just waiting for you to come by and eat it. Walk in there and order the large (why anyone would order the small confounds me), ask for Broccoli Rabe and some sharp cheddar and BAM you have a flavor explosion!
They also say they have the ultimate cheesesteak. I have experienced the cheesesteak and some people swear by it but when I had it I wish I had gotten a roast pork. Just my opinion. Grab a roast pork, take it back at a picnic table and chow down. The bread can only hold so much of the juices so eating it in a timely manner is critical. You have been warned! ;)
