When in need of a stiff scotch or a finely crafted cocktail, I find myself rapidly making my way towards Lloyd, Fishtown's best whiskey bar. Inside, the style is of the owner's childhood living room and certainly carries a vibe that makes me feel at home. The staff is very accommodating and friendly, which helps in working your way through the extensive (80+) whiskey list. This process is assisted by offerings of sweet deals on whiskey flights.
While the drinks are a draw, the real reason to go is for the insane food options. These guys are always whipping up something new and intriguing. I love the inexpensive bar snacks, like the Zucchini-Potato Fritters and the Shrimp and Grits. My dish of choice right now, the Lloyd Platters, come with a protein and 2 sides. My favorite combo is the Pulled Pork, Spicy Collard Greens with Bacon, and Southern Potato Salad. Lloyd also has the Lloyd Burger, dressed with muenster cheese, pickled red onion, lettuce, tomato, and pickles, between stacks of brioche.
Lloyd hosts Happy Hour Monday - Friday 4-6pm. The weekly special includes $6 wines, $6 cocktails, $6 appetizers, $1 off drafts & Lloyd's Citywide.
