This blog is part of a series of three which I initially prepared in December 2020, trying to bring some feeling of holiday goodwill. More importantly, the idea was to promote small scale women-led enterprises which produce hand-made gifts and products permeated with Kosovo's cultural heritage.
The first in line is Sa-Punë - twelve rural and minority community women produce tote bags, bookmarks and greetings cards incorporating silver filigree charms and lavender bags with recycled material. See the lovely gifts here.
Having purchased a few bookmarks and post-cards for family members, it seemed important to note that the velveteen and filigree bookmarks are a gift which can be given to anyone, at any time. Same with the postcards. I truly love the little filigree charm on the front, it is a different type of gift. And with Valentine's just around the corner, why not pick up a love-red card and write a lovely message to that special someone?
I love the initiative which not only supports these women to create decent lives for themselves and their families but requires that their children attend school. The idea is to provide these vulnerable families with a chance for a better life.
