Meatballs, meatballs, meatballs. Did I say meatballs? For those who don’t get it: I’m quite enthusiastic about meatballs. The best place in the city, possibly the country, to overeat on meatballs is De Ballentent. This place is situated not far from the Euromast park and the Westerkade.
The Ballentent is a restaurant/café were you can enjoy your drink and have a meal, ranging from fish to schnitzel. But they are famous for (and named after) their meatballs, and rightfully so. It’s like a little peace of heaven, and even better yet.
You can order your meatball with fries or with bread and some vegetables. I highly recommend to order the satay sauce (a Dutch sauce originally from Indonesia). The meat is absolutely amazing and by far the best I’ve ever had.
It is real fun to have a meal at the Ballentent, talk with the friendly staff and sit on the terrace with the sun shining. As the meatballs themselves aren’t enough, you have a view which is worth a million bucks over the Maas, hotel New York and the SS Rotterdam.
