Essenburgpark, a serene haven nestled in the heart of Rotterdam, holds a special place in my heart. This small park, spanning a mere 900 meters in length, was more than just a green space; it was my backyard for a while. Born from the dedication of local volunteers, it emerged on the grounds of an old train track, a collective effort shaping a green retreat for the neighbourhood.
Wandering through this oasis, walking my dog along its winding paths was a ritual that brought a sense of calm. The park's charm lies in its intimate size, a labyrinth of small paths leading to various discoveries. Amidst the lush foliage and vibrant ambiance, numerous benches offer respite, but my cherished spot is an enchanting round bench nestled under a fruit tree. Accessible via small bridges, this secluded nook offered a perfect sanctuary, where the tranquil whispers of nature created an idyllic spot for quiet contemplation.
The park buzzes with life, with families engaged in play, children darting joyfully, and people strolling with their furry companions. It's a picture of community, a mosaic of people basking in the sun, relishing the outdoors, and enjoying the simple pleasures that this cosy urban retreat offers.
