Do you have a dream childhood shop? That one for which your parents would rather walk an extra couple of blocks instead of seeing you beg to enter... and have something? Well... welcome to that. I'm not a kid anymore and I literally know my wallet is in big danger any time I'm close to this place.
De Kleine Kapitein is a lovely children's bookstore located in the center of Rotterdam. It has not only books, but also educational games and tools for learning... and toys. Toys for everyone. I started coming to this place before I knew I was having a baby. And still, every time it was difficult to leave empty-handed. They know toys and children's books like no one else... and they are not afraid to show it. People working there are very knowledgeable of what they sell and like to help.
One thing I really like is that they have a whole section on books and items related to the city - without imagining it, you can leave this place with the most memorable souvenir for young and old.
Now, if all of what I just told you is still coming short, they serve good coffee and snacks in a child-friendly environment. If you are traveling with little ones (or youngsters at heart) this is your place.
